It seems as though a job in the entertainment industry often results in an arrest sooner or later. Whether they experience some degree of a mental breakdown, or just decide to experiment with drugs, it feels like most famous people wind up posting bail.
Justin Bieber
Despite using his star power to avoid several charges beforehand, it was a brush of street racing in Miami that sent Bieber to jail. Not only did he become combative when law enforcement arrived, but tests showed that the Canadian pop star had been using Xanax, alcohol, and possibly other substances as well. Even though he was caught under the influence and putting pedestrians at risk, his bail became set at $2,500. As an international recording artist, he quickly walked away.
Lindsay Lohan
The troubled teen actress saw herself in many situations with law enforcement. However, one arrest stands out among the others. After stacking together a variety of charges, including multiple DUIs, theft, reckless driving, and others, her bail got set at a stiff $300,000. Paying $75K out of pocket, even this starlet needed the help of a bail bonds agency.
O.J. Simpson
The infamous former NFL star did not receive the option to bail out of his first controversial trial. However, years later, he would receive a bail amount for a different set of charges. In 2007, in an attempt to reclaim memorabilia from his glory days, Simpson got arrested on robbery and kidnapping charges. His bail remained at a harsh $250,000, likely taking into account his earlier brushes with the law.
Frank Sinatra
Whether Frank Sinatra had ties to the mob or not remains unseen. However, it seems as if he didn’t need to keep controversial company to wind up in trouble. In 1938, Sinatra became charged with adultery, one year after changes had already occurred to the law. His bond dropped from $1,500 to $500 until both it and the case got dismissed.
Phil Spector
The former record producer was found guilty of murder in the second degree of Lana Clarkson, a prominent 1980s actress and model. Although the attack occurred in 2003, he managed to post bail of $1,000,000. Although this kept him out of jail for nearly a decade, his trial eventually took place, and he got sent to prison. 2nd-degree murder and unlawfully firearm use earned him 19 years.
